Profile
Your profile is the first impression mentees will have of you on Syncli. A complete, thoughtful profile not only helps you stand out, but also builds trust and makes it easier for mentees to connect with you.
In this section, we'll walk you through everything you need to set up your profile for success—from crafting a strong bio to choosing the right photos, describing your mentorship focus, and setting your rate.
-
Bio
Your bio gives a quick snapshot of who you are, your teaching background, and what you offer as a mentor. It helps mentees get a feel for your personality and expertise before connecting with you.
Tips:
-
Keep it friendly, professional, and approachable
-
Highlight your experience, subject areas, and mentorship style
-
Use clear, confident language
Example Bio:
“Hi! I’m Lindi, a passionate Intermediate Phase teacher with 6+ years of classroom experience. I specialize in creative lesson planning, classroom management, and helping new teachers build confidence. I’m here to support you through the ups and downs of your teaching journey—let’s grow together!”

Profile Photo
Your profile photo is an important part of making a great first impression. A high-quality, professional photo helps mentees feel more connected to you.
Tips for a great profile photo:
-
Use a head-to-shoulder shot—this keeps the focus on you
-
Ensure the quality is good—clear, sharp, and well-lit
-
Avoid sunglasses or anything that obstructs your face—make sure your face is clearly visible
-
Dress professionally, but comfortably
-
Keep the background simple and tidy so it doesn’t distract from you
-
Smile! A warm, welcoming expression will make mentees feel at ease
Reminder: Before you go live, check that your photo looks correct by previewing your profile. The "Preview" button is located next to the "Make My Profile Live" button, and this can be done after your account is verified.

Cover Photo
Your cover photo appears at the top of your profile and can be seen if mentees visit your profile after searching. It’s similar to a Facebook cover photo, so choose something that represents your teaching style, personality, or passion.
Make sure the image is in landscape orientation, not portrait.
-
Long-Term Pitch
This section is your chance to clearly explain what you can offer mentees in the long run. Be specific about the areas you can help them with and how you’ll support their growth over time.
Example:
“As your mentor, I offer ongoing support tailored to your individual needs. Whether you’re struggling with lesson planning, classroom management, or finding effective ways to engage your students, I’m here to guide you. I can help you design dynamic lessons, incorporate digital tools into your teaching, and even offer tips on how to assess and improve your teaching techniques. I also specialize in interview preparation, helping you feel confident and ready to land your dream job, and can assist with resume building and refining your professional documents to highlight your strengths. Additionally, I can teach you how to organize your files appropriately and according to education standards, helping you stay efficient and compliant with teaching requirements. I’m also here to listen and support you—whether you need advice on a tricky situation or just someone to talk to when things get overwhelming. You're not alone in this journey.”
